Homebuyer Education: 8-Hour

Service Description

CDLI’s Homebuyer Education: 8-Hour program gives first-time homebuyers the knowledge and tools needed to confidently navigate the homebuying process in one convenient session. This HUD-approved course fulfills the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) 8-hour homebuyer education requirement and is taught by HUD-Certified Housing Counselors alongside experienced housing professionals. Participants will learn about: • Budgeting and credit improvement • Mortgage pre-approval and financing options • Down payment assistance and grant opportunities • The roles of lenders, realtors, attorneys, and inspectors • The complete homebuying process from start to closing • Homeownership responsibilities and post-purchase resources Program Details: • One convenient Saturday session • Available in-person or via Zoom • $50 course fee • Includes a one-on-one counseling appointment after completion • Certificate of Completion provided after the class and counseling session Following the course, participants will meet individually with a CDLI Housing Educator to review financial readiness, discuss mortgage and grant opportunities, and receive personalized guidance tailored to their homeownership goals.
