Get up to $50,000 in grants and loans to make your home more resilient against storms, flooding, and extreme weather while improving its energy efficiency. The funding is split into:

• Half as a low-interest loan (3% interest rate, 5-10 year repayment term)

• Half as a grant that doesn't need to be repaid once you complete your loan payments

ELIGIBILITY

• Must be a Long Island homeowner

• Property must be your primary residence (1-4 unit buildings eligible)

• Household income at or below 120% of the area median income 

• Property location must be eligible under program guidelines

• Homeowner must be current on their mortgage and taxes

WHAT IMPROVEMENTS ARE COVERED?

50% of the loan/grant proceeds must be used for resiliency measures that will fortify the home to protect against future flood and storm damage.

Additional eligible improvements include:

• Storm protection and weather resilience upgrades

• Energy efficiency improvements

• Home electrification projects

• Climate-ready home systems

• Improvements must be to the main structure of your home

These improvements benefit all homeowners while also helping seniors age safely in their current homes.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Choose your own contractor(s) - they must be licensed and insured

2. Work with us to plan eligible improvements

3. Get up to $25,000 as a grant

4. Get up to $25,000 as a 3% interest loan

5. Pay back just the loan portion over 5-10 years

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• No minimum credit score required

• Lender and third party fees do apply: approximately $1,189 – $1,779

• Technical assistance provided throughout the process

• Work must be completed by approved contractors
