dad47a05-af81-4281-be00-e0fa5a23deb4 Home How We Can Help Details The Climate Friendly Homes Fund (CFHF), administered by The Community Preservation Corporation, provides financing for existing, 5-50-unit buildings in New York State with a focus on replacing older and less energy-efficient systems with all-electric, high-performance heating, cooling, and hot water heating systems. With $250 million in New York State funding, CPC and New York State Homes and Community Renewal aim to finance electrification retrofits in at least 10,000 units of multifamily housing that serve economically disadvantaged communities. These funds will empower small building owners to identify and execute a scope of work to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings and decrease their greenhouse gas emissions. Program Overview Owners of eligible buildings may apply for funds to cover the cost of eligible building upgrades including electrification of heating, cooling, and water heating systems and additional building envelope improvements. Funds may be used for approved retrofit work scope items (see below), as well as certain soft costs. Retrofit Scope of Work items eligible for funding include: Electrical service upgrades HVAC systems replacement with high-efficiency heat pumps Domestic Hot Water replacement with high efficiency heat pumps Additional energy conservation measures to optimize new system performance Systems commissioning Eligibility at a Glance Buildings must have 5-50 residential units, and be located in New York State. Owners of regulated affordable and unregulated multifamily rental buildings in eligible locations may apply; Buildings must currently be subject to a regulatory agreement with a public agency or be located in one of the following locations: Low-Moderate Income Qualified Census Tract as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Disadvantaged Communities as defined in the New York State Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. Funds are made available through the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation. The RESTORE Program provides income-eligible homeowners, 60 years of age and older, the resources to make necessary emergency repairs to address hazardous conditions posing a threat to life, health or safety of the elderly homeowner. Funds are available for repairs up to $20,000 per home. Typical repairs may include: Heating system repairs or replacements Electrical repairs or upgrades Plumbing repairs that pose a health risk such as water supply and septic issues Structural repairs such as deteriorated foundations, roofs, floors, stairs, decks, doorways, etc. Accessibility measures such as ramps, stair lifts, and grab bars Please note that all repairs must address an emergency issue as determined by CDLI. The funding is split into: Half as a low-interest loan (3% interest rate, 5-10 year repayment term) Half as a grant that doesn't need to be repaid once you complete your loan payments ELIGIBILITY Must be a Long Island homeowner Property must be your primary residence (1-4 unit buildings eligible) Household income at or below 120% of the area median income Property location must be eligible under program guidelines Homeowner must be current on their mortgage and taxes WHAT IMPROVEMENTS ARE COVERED? 50% of the loan/grant proceeds must be used for resiliency measures that will fortify the home to protect against future flood and storm damage. 20badca9-27a0-4d8e-afa6-06f285f75c3c Home How We Can Help Details The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) assists families and individuals by reducing their heating/cooling costs and improving the safety of their homes through energy efficiency measures. These cost savings help all residents, including seniors who want to age affordably in their current homes. Owners/landlords of buildings occupied by low-income households are also encouraged to apply for assistance for their buildings. Participants who reside in a rental unit, please call our office to obtain a copy of the Landlord Preliminary Agreement for your landlord to fill out and sign. Program services are delivered through New York State Homes and Community Renewal’s statewide network of local service providers. CDLI is the provider of weatherization services for Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. Funds are available for approximately 400 homes each year. Applications are addressed on a first-come, first-served basis. If an application is incomplete or determined to be ineligible, you will be notified within 48 hours.
