    726cf278-1a5c-4f6b-b0a0-eaed4e8e86e1 Home How We Can Help Details The Town of Southampton, through its Community Housing Fund (CHF), is offering funding to eligible Town residents for the construction of accessory dwelling units (ADUs). These units help address the shortage of affordable housing in many of the Town of Southampton’s hamlets. Note: In the Town of Southampton’s local code, ADUs are referred to as “Accessory Apartments.” ADUs provide an additional option for housing that is typically more affordable than renting or buying a standalone unit. They can also help accommodate individuals or families who may otherwise struggle to find suitable housing within their budget. Loan Highlights Homeowner Income Eligibility: There is no income limit for homeowners. Tenant Income Eligibility: The household income of the tenant must be at or below current Nassau/Suffolk AMI of 130%. No Interest Rate Loans for 20 years. Loan repayment begins year 2. Owner Occupancy : Both the homeowner and tenant must occupy the apartment as their primary residence to prevent the units from being used for short-term rentals or investment purposes. Workforce Housing: At least one Tenant must work at least 30 hours a week at a business located within the Town of Southampton. Affordability Restrictions: The limit on the rent charged must comply with the Town rental guidelines to ensure that it remains affordable for renters. Under this program, we acquire and renovate single family dwellings to high quality standards, including energy efficient and green measures. The properties are offered for rental to Long Islanders who have committed to accomplishing homeownership within the next three years. To achieve homeownership, tenants are required to participate in our Homeownership Center’s Financial Fitness Health and Wealth Program as well as complete a Homebuyer Education course.     dad47a05-af81-4281-be00-e0fa5a23deb4 Home How We Can Help Details The Climate Friendly Homes Fund (CFHF), administered by The Community Preservation Corporation, provides financing for existing, 5-50-unit buildings in New York State with a focus on replacing older and less energy-efficient systems with all-electric, high-performance heating, cooling, and hot water heating systems. With $250 million in New York State funding, CPC and New York State Homes and Community Renewal aim to finance electrification retrofits in at least 10,000 units of multifamily housing that serve economically disadvantaged communities. These funds will empower small building owners to identify and execute a scope of work to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings and decrease their greenhouse gas emissions. Program Overview Owners of eligible buildings may apply for funds to cover the cost of eligible building upgrades including electrification of heating, cooling, and water heating systems and additional building envelope improvements. Funds may be used for approved retrofit work scope items (see below), as well as certain soft costs. Retrofit Scope of Work items eligible for funding include: Electrical service upgrades HVAC systems replacement with high-efficiency heat pumps Domestic Hot Water replacement with high efficiency heat pumps Additional energy conservation measures to optimize new system performance Systems commissioning Eligibility at a Glance Buildings must have 5-50 residential units, and be located in New York State. Owners of regulated affordable and unregulated multifamily rental buildings in eligible locations may apply; Buildings must currently be subject to a regulatory agreement with a public agency or be located in one of the following locations: Low-Moderate Income Qualified Census Tract as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Disadvantaged Communities as defined in the New York State Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.
